Arriving in Panacea
After a month on the road, visiting relatives, and staying at Wal-Marts along the way we arrived in Panacea FL today. Panacea is located on the Forgotten Coast of Florida where the white sand beaches meet the green waters of the Gulf. It is a step back in time to Old Florida dog friendly beaches, natural habitats and wild life.
Although we did not know it when we made our reservation - Panacea was renamed for the Greek goddess of universal health in 1893 for it's healing mineral springs. Bill and I both need healing. Without going into details the last couple of months have been emotionally trying.
After getting set-up and doing the mound of laundry it was just before sunset when we took off to explore. We went to Woolley Park on Dickerson Bay.. It was a lovely park decorated for Christmas with boughs on the trees. The park was clean and welcoming. You could walk down to the bay on a boardwalk however it was damaged during hurricane Michael.
We wanted to get every bit of of the remains of the day in and took a ride to Alligator Point. Nature was in competition with a spectacular sunset on one side and a giant full moon rising on the other. It was hard to decide which way to look. I regret I did not take photos.. Hopefully we will return and I will be able to capture the magnificent moon rising
